Ok so I went back and forth on a title for this week's posts several times. It feels like a no-brainer that we focus on self-love but then it feels taboo to focus on self. So here's to breaking down the imaginary walls society has put up inside our heads telling us how or when it is appropriate to love ourselves. Oftentimes we are waiting on an accomplishment, success, a good act- to love, acknowledge, and accept we are deserving of some self-love. But the Bible states that while we were yet sinners, Christ demonstrated His love for us and died for us. This means that we were kinda enemies with God and in our condition, He loved us anyway.
So don't wait until your child makes an "A" to love on them. They are not good and deserving of love because of grades. They are good and deserving of love because they are God's. The same goes for you too. God has no conditions on His love for you. He loves you unconditionally. And I am sure some will read this blog and say, "Oh I don't have a problem with self-love bc I get my nails done and get massages, and buy myself nice things." That's not self-love, actually. Self Love is knowing that you, the you with or without money, friends, family, businesses, clothes, exceptionally smart and high performing kiddos, perfect four-course cuisine meals on the table at night, a spouse, job promotion, long hair, full eyebrows, clear skin- is STILL the apple of God's eye JUST because you are YOU. Dassit!
It is acknowledging and accepting God is CRAZY about you so you can just BE. He spoke the stars and moon into the sky. He spoke animals into existence. But he came down and demonstrated His love for you way back during Creation. He crafted and created you and breathed His breath into your nostrils. Love on yourself today and every day forward! I love you. God definitely loves you more!
I love how you broke this down! I never really thought of it how you put it, how God spoke everything into existence, but stooped down, took his time, and breathed himself into us!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 That was a whole entire word!!! This has been one of main focuses on my journey and building my relationship with God, self-love first! It’s not as easy as it sounds or how some think of it, and it takes a lot of inner work; work that we MUST do! But God is IN us, so the self-love gone flourish!❤️❤️❤️
