Our hearts go out to the teachers and children‘s family of those who lost their lives at the hand of senseless gun violence in Uvalde, Texas. To the children who witnessed their friends being slain, educators who feel unprotected and angry, and community members who grapple with the why behind it all, our prayer is that God’s righteous and just kingdom be on earth as it is in heaven and the Holy Spirit comfort you.
Personally, I’ve ran to the fortified tower of safety which is Jesus Christ. I ran and hid behind Him because my heart and mind cannot process any more lives being lost following Buffalo and two years of the pandemic and nonstop emotional triggering due to the racial unrest. My heart is heavy and I needed to remember my gift of safety. So, today I simply want to extend the same welcome Robb Elementary gave to everyone in their community. The same safe place and inviting culture they broadcast on their front signage- BIENVENIDOS/Welcome- I welcome you to join me in hiding behind Christ‘s for tiered, strong, tall walls. They are impenetrable and offer us safety if only we’d come. Wherever you are, whatever you feel, no matter the circumstance, you can run to Christ today and the living word of God declares you will be safe. Not you will feel safe because feelings are fleeting BUT you will BE safe.
I absolutely love you. And God ABSOLUTELY loves you more!
